Inspiración

Inspired by my ever creative friend Malou, I decided to list 10 things that inspire me:

Strong women: from my mother and grandmother to Michelle Bachelet, Head of UN Women, Aung San Suu Kyi, Burmese leader and Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State

 Conviction in your beliefs

 Innovative ideas to make
                               the world a better place
Food – because without it I wouldn’t have the energy to feel inspired

Nothing to Envy – a book by Barbara Demick about the current situation in North Korea, making me realise just how lucky we are to live in a democracy

    Laughter

"No llores porque terminó, sonríe porque sucedió"

Arab spring – the finest example of fighting for democracy

A beautifully calm ocean – offering you limitless       possibilities

Love – a mother’s love, a friend’s love, a boyfriend’s love, a stranger’s love

Doing 'it'

There are so many different ways of describing the act of sex...... Below are a variety of words to describe 'it':

The majority are pretty mysogynistic and are quite violent and strong which just isn't very pleasant... However, it is interesting just how many words exist just to say one thing... Do people make up these words in order to trivialise, put stronger emphasis on the act or to 'sex up' the simple act of having sex? I really have no idea but I know that I hate some of the words below and wish we could all stick to "having sex", however boring it sounds...

fucking
shagging
rumpy pumpy
rutting

porking
making love
hooking up
sleeping with

shafting
boning
beasting
pressing

horizontal dancing
fornicating
procreating
smashing

rooting
screwing
deflowering
doing it

So, what's YOUR favourite way of saying 'it'?

Real Men Don't Buy Girls

The Demi and Ashton Foundation launched a campaign targeting men with the message that Real Men Don't Buy Girls. The goal of the campaign was to create a cultural shift around the implicit societal acceptance of child prostitution, and thus, child sex slavery.

Today, more than twelve million people worldwide are enslaved. An estimated two million children are bought and sold in the global commercial sex trade. The sex slavery industry has become an increasingly important revenue source for organized crime because each young girl can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for her pimp.
Are YOU a REAL MAN?

Big City Sleepin'

I’m quite a fan of doing different events to raise money for charities but this one I’m particularly excited about as it’s not your typical charity event…

I’ll be sleeping ‘rough’ during the cold  British winter/spring in Spitalfield Market on 23rd March in order to raise money for Action for Brazil's Children.

Why? Because 7 million children live on the streets of Brazil and this is unacceptable. ABC Trust is working hard to provide invaluable help to many of these children. They’re a small charity who work with local communities in Brazil and make sure that children are provided with the basics to have a good education. They also work in the arts and culture, using film, theatre and music to bring about social change.

I worked for an amazing NGO in Brazil - Central da Cidadania and have seen firsthand the positive impact that sponsorship money from abroad has on the schools and the children. With only just £10 can pay for learning materials for 25 children for a month.....!

The money will go to: Circo Picolino, a social circus project - using circus-arts to help at-risk young people and AA Crianca that runs 2 projects - the CEDECA and CASA 20, offering a drop-in centre, providing children with a safe place to go during the day, washing facilities and a secure place to leave their possessions.

We all hear about how strong Brazil's economy is and how powerful it could become... but it won't get anywhere if its children aren't educated or don't have a roof over their heads!

Please help me out by sponsoring me what you can - every little helps!! (go to Big city sleep page)

Abraços y Obrigada :)

It's a Girl!

'In India, China and many other parts of the world today, girls are killed, aborted and abandoned simply because they are girls. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of this so-called "gendercide".

This documentary film tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters' lives, and of other mothers who would kill for a son. Global experts and grassroots activists put the stories in context and advocate different paths towards change, while collectively lamenting the lack of any truly effective action against this injustice.'
